In Mrs. Rosales's Sci-Tech Lab, 5th grade Cougars used tools to represent different types of bird beaks (i.e., tweezers, spoon, dropper). They were tasked to see how many seeds (beads) & worms (rubber bands) they could pick up with their beaks (tools) to fill their bellies (cups). In Mrs. Rosales's Sci-Tech Lab, fourth grade Cougars became coal miners! With a chocolate chip cookie and a toothpick in hand, the kids removed coal (the chocolate chips), without damaging the land (the cookie). How does mining affect the land? Our fourth graders can tell you!
